Adult & Senior Eye Exams

Regular eye exams are an important part of maintaining strong ocular health and vision. Eye exams are used to detect issues that have potentially gone unnoticed.

According to the Canadian Association of Optometrists, adults should have eye exams:

  • Every 2 to 3 years between ages 20 and 64
  • At least once a year after age 65

During your eye exam, we will perform a series of tests. We’ll also collect careful medical history to determine if you’re at risk for eye diseases.

These vision tests allow us to determine if treatment is needed, helping correct any issues you may be dealing with.

During eye exams, we test for:

If you’re having problems with your vision or are experiencing any sort of pain, it’s best to book an appointment as soon as possible.

Children’s Eye Exams

Children strongly rely on their vision to learn and develop. Roughly 80% of what children learn is visual. If a child has problems with their vision, they may have difficulty with learning and become frustrated.

From an early age, children’s vision and ocular health must be examined to ensure they’re not at risk of developing serious issues.

Bringing your child in for an eye exam is an effective way to check that their eyes are healthy and their vision is clear. If we notice any issues during the exam, we’ll provide or recommend treatment.

If you’re a parent, don’t worry about the cost of your child’s eye exam. Every child aged 0–19 is covered for a full annual eye exam by the OHIP.

Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetic patients may require extra attention during regular eye exams. If you have diabetes, you’re at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. This is because diabetes can affect the amount of sugar in your blood in your retina.

During your exam, we will analyze the blood vessels at the back of your eye to see if they have been damaged. If not treated, this can lead to changes in your vision or even blindness.

If you notice any of the following diabetic retinopathy symptoms, please contact us:

  • Blurred vision
  • Flashes of light in the field of vision
  • Sudden loss of vision
  • Blotches or spots in vision

In addition to diabetic retinopathy, patients with diabetes are also at risk of developing glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic macular edema.
